Lease renewal deadline calculator

Most commercial leases with a renewal option need written notice by a set date, often 6 to 12 months before the lease ends. Miss it and the option can be gone. Enter your expiry date and notice terms to get your key dates and a calendar file.

Estimate only. Check the real numbers in your lease or listing.

How are the dates worked out?

Each date is your expiry date minus the number of months you enter. Read the renewal clause for the exact wording: some say “not less than six months”, some give a window, and some count from the end of the term rather than the expiry date.

The calendar file has an alert a week before each date. It’s made in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Typical timeline: start 12 to 18 months out if you might move. Moving, permits and a build-out often take longer than people expect.
